The 2016 Baltimore mayoral election is set to be held along with the 2016 General Election on November 8, 2016. Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the incumbent mayor, is not running for reelection. Due to the heavy Democratic Party leanings in Baltimore, winning the Democratic Party primary election is considered tantamount to election as mayor. ==Background and candidates==
Incumbent Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will not seek re-election in 2016. Mayor Rawlings-Blake completed former Mayor Dixon's term, and won the mayoral seat in the 2011 Mayoral Race. After holding the office for five years, Mayor Rawlings-Blake has faced challenges and criticism during her tenure.
